Stephanie “Metrogypsie” Okafor – Our nomad of the week personifies the phrase “no such thing as being too busy”.  Despite being a Financial Analyst, Personal Stylist, Wardrobe Consultant and running a successful Fashion Consultancy platform, she makes out time to see the world. Ever style conscious, fashion PR opportunities determine her vacation spots and she takes her retro-chic style everywhere she goes. When planning a vacation, what determines your destination of choice?

Such a great question, well, I really feel more comfortable going somewhere I have links or connections and the potential of me doing Fashion PR while there. The economic and political climate at the time is also important before I embark on my journey as well as weather, general acceptance of citizens of the country and most importantly somewhere I have never been.

What is the one thing you cannot do without when you travel?

It has to be my iPhone. I can hardly breathe well without Internet and it has a fabulous camera.

Most memorable thing you have done during a holiday.

Climbing up over 120 stairs of a mountain to watch the sunset at Oia in Santorini. I basically cried and crawled up. Oh My days!

My trip to San Antonio in Ibiza was really memorable as well. Ibiza is EVERTYHING as seen in music videos. It’s a crazy party city.  We wore bikinis everyday to everywhere. (okay we didn’t go to church, but every other place, swimwear). It was too hot!  You could literally just see a fit guy and touch his abs randomly in admiration and he would be so cool with it.

I also went road tripping with my favorite ally, Olga. We did Germany, Belgium and Netherlands in 3 days. I am such a bum when it comes to adventurous activities. Scariest I’ve done is snorkeling, imagine!

Every avid traveler has a travel bucket list. What’s on yours?

My travel bucket list consists of not activities but just places I want to go to. Bali! Bali! Bali, tour the temples and gardens of Kyoto, take my mum on a holiday (just us two), visit Marrakesh and perhaps going to a nude beach. lol

Where is that one place you HAVE to see in your lifetime?

I would really love to go to Bali, Indonesia (and no I am on a voyage of self discovery like Julia Roberts, LOL)

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Mary Ritter Beard

Travel tips you would like to share.

Always try to do some research before you arrive your travel destination/plan a trip. Read blogs, go on trip advisor, read reviews, things to do, people’s experiences etc. When you get back, don’t be a hoarder, share your good and bad experiences with others too. LOL!
