Baecation Ideas for Valentine’s Day: Lagos Edition
Jan 31st, 2016

Hey Nomads!

Let’s face it; the present state of the economy has put most of us on a TIGHT travel budget for this year :(. I mean who wouldn’t want to spend this Valentines Day on some remote Island in Cape Verde? Valentines Day this year falls on a Sunday so you don’t have to lie to your bosses that your grandma got sick and you had to rush her to the clinic, or you have cramps and can’t get out of bed. In spite of this tight travel budget, some of us will definitely still spend the weekend on an exotic Island (*side eyeing you guys*). Anyways, don’t forget to tag us on your photos or send your romantic getaway stories in!

If wishes were horses…..

This post is for those of us who will be spending that weekend in the motherland and are seeking something “different” to do. Unfortunately, it is somewhat specific to Lagos residents and I have tried to make the list as comprehensive as possible! Let me know what you guys think and share below if you have any other cool ways to spend Valentines Day.

  1. FINE DINNING:

Yes I know I said “different” but what’s Valentines Day without Valentines Day dinner? Dinner never gets old! There are so any eating options both Lagos and Abuja. Kindly visit the social media pages of the foodies and food experts listed below. You can also send them an email detailing your budget, cuisine preference, etc and they will be sure to advice you on where to go!

2. HIRE A PRIVATE CHEF:

This is for the introverts who don’t like eating out on Valentines Day. I know it gets tiring when you go to a restaurant and half the time you are exchanging pleasantries. You wouldn’t even enjoy your meal. The awesome guys at red dish chronicles have put together a Valentines Day special where you can book a chef to cook for the day at N30, 000 only! Check out their mouth-watering menu below!

3. SECRET CINEMA LAGOS:

Who doesn’t like the sound of an outdoor cinema? This is something I have always wanted to give a try both home and abroad. I will definitely be calling them up to see if they have any Valentine’s Day specials lined up! They also offer private screenings too. Instagram-@secretcinemalagos

You should check out the following Instagram accounts and book an adventure for you and your better half. 6. VISIT A THEME PARK:

Oh, to be a kid again! Hi-Impact planet is a theme park that recently opened about a month ago and we have heard nothing but awesome reviews about the place. Its no Disneyland or Six flags but its good enough. It is located at KM12 Lagos Ibadan expressway.

7. GO ON A WEEKEND GETAWAY:

If peace and serenity is your thing then you definitely should opt for this. A weekend getaway at Inagbe Grand Resorts and Leisure (you can read my review on the resort here), Whispering Palms, Epe Resort , Kamp Ikaare Resort or La manga Ilashe will definitely be a good way to spend the weekend away from the busy Lagos streets. Some of these resorts offer Valentine’s Day packages so be sure to get a good deal.

In the alternative, if you are keen on being out of state, some hotel/resort options include Abraka Turf and Country Club (Delta State), Le Meridian Ibom (Akwa Ibom State), Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort (Ekiti State), IITA hotel (Oyo State), Obudu Ranch Hotel and Resort (Crossriver State) or Kajuru Castle (Kaduna State).

8. PRIVATE BURLESQUE CLASSES:

I understand that some people would really love a quiet evening spent at home with their partners. Ladies, you can spice things up a little and take private burlesque classes. Do you burlesque is Dance Company located in Lagos and they are offering private pre-Valentines Day classes to get you ready to take things up a notch!

9. FISHING TRIP:

Fishing requires great patience and if you or your partner do not possess this virtue then its best not to trying this. Big fishing game Lagos will take you and your partner to the south of Lagos, maximum 20 miles off shore, for a full day fishing adventure. The adventure includes fishing rods and bait, lunch and refreshments and room for a maximum of 4 riders.
